Preparing a room before the painters arrive is essential to ensure quality work and avoid complications. Follow these steps:
1. Clear the Room
Furniture and Items: Remove all furniture and items from the room. If some are too heavy, place them in the center and we will cover them with plastic.
Wall Decorations: Remove all frames, mirrors, and other wall decorations. Leave nails or screws where you plan to rehang items. If a hole is empty, we will fill it with plaster.
2. Protect Surfaces
Floors: Clear the floor as we will cover it with cardboard or drop cloths.
Switch Plates: Remove switch plates.
3. Clean Surfaces
Dust and Dirt: Clean the walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to be painted with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt.
Grease and Stains: Use a degreaser on greasy areas, especially in the kitchen.
4. Clear Access
Doors and Windows: Ensure all doors and windows open and close properly.
Workspace: Provide a workspace for the painters to store their materials.
5. Ventilation and Room Conditions
Airflow: Ensure the room is well-ventilated for good air circulation during and after painting.
Temperature and Humidity: Use air conditioning or heating to keep the room between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. Lower the humidity to prevent paint from bubbling.
6. Inform the Painters
Specific Instructions: Communicate any specific instructions or preferences to the painters before they start.
